Frequently Asked Questions
What is Basic Training for New Dads?
Basic Training for New Dads (BTND) consists of two classes for expectant and new fathers. They are all "fathers only" and are an informal, hands-on, experiential class meant to provide expectant and new fathers with practical information and a real shot of confidence. For more information see our About the Classes page.
What do the BTND classes cover?
Each class is different, but they have the same basic structure. The class process largely depends on the baby’s behaviors and the participant's questions. This format makes for a lively and interactive educational experience.
How many dads are in the class at a time?
Generally, each one has between 6 and 10 fathers and their infants. Each class is facilitated by a trained psychologist who is also an experienced father.
How much is the class?
Each class costs $40 and last 2 ½ hours.
When and where are the classes held?
Both classes take place on a monthly basis from 9:30-noon on Saturday mornings. See the Class Schedule for date, time and location of classes
How do I register for a class?
Please see our schedule and sign up page.
How are these classes related to the Basic Training for Dads-to-Be class?
Jeff Jones originally developed the "Basic Training for Dads-to-Be" class for expectant dads, and Danny Singley worked with him to develop "Basic Training for New Dads" as a follow-up class after the baby is born. In early 2010, the classes were consolidated into the two classes described on this site.
