Meet the Facilitators

Dr. Danny Singley

I’m a consultant and licensed clinical psychologist specializing in men’s issues as well as a father of two young children. Teaching classes for new fathers is a natural fit for me because I love teaching, working with men in a “guy-friendly” way, and was a new dad just a few years ago.

I live in San Diego and my professional duties include a private practice involving psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and groups as well as research consulting with a variety of organizations.

I am also also currently the Chair of the San Diego Psychological Association’s Men’s Issues Committee and the Chair Elect of the American Psychological Association’s Section on Positive Psychology.

In my free time, I enjoy surfing, scuba diving, reading, and taking my kids on hikes to places where they can get dirty and throw rocks.

Chuck Flacks, MFT

I have been teaching the Basic Training For Dads-To-Be class for the past five years.  My beautiful, nearly-grown children, aged 17 and 15 are playing music, making films, and enjoying high school at Canyon Crest Academy in Carmel Valley. I'd like to take credit for all of their gifts and maturity, but I'd be lying...

I am a trained therapist, and I work with community organizations and market research companies facilitating planning meetings, reaction research to messaging campaigns, and helping to organize consensus around particular needed decisions. I love teaching the Dad's class because it keeps me young and I love to clear that "deer in the headlights" look that "pregnant dads" all seem to have.

Dr. Jeff Jones

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Solana Beach serving individuals, couples, and families.  One of my special interests is parenting - specifically fathering.  In 1996, I founded The Dads' Club at my children's school to encourage fathers to be more involved in their child's education.  Over the last 10 years, The Dads’ Club program has grown to over 30 schools in San Diego County.  In addition to teaching parent education classes for the Parent Institute for Quality Education, I have also presented family education seminars on behalf of Teach Your Children Well.

In 1999, Jim DiCenzo and I co-founded the innovative expectant fathers class - Basic Training for Dads-To-Be in which “Veteran Dads” model effective parenting techniques and address common new dad questions.  My work with expectant dads and fathers of school age children has given me numerous opportunities to speak on the importance of father involvement. Even more importantly, I have been married for 30 years and am the father of three wonderful adult-children.
